<p>There are several reasons why people relocate. One is because of a natural disaster. Another is because of work. There are also instances when a family has to move because of unpaid mortgage and foreclosure. Whatever the reason is for your relocation, you have to ensure that you are ready. Prepare your things as well as yourself. These are essential so that you will be able to adjust better.</p>
<p>The preparations that you are going to make largely depend on the reason why you are relocating, the place where you are going and the people who will be moving with you. If you are moving because of work, you have to make sure that all your documents to work in that country or state is ready. You have to bring with you all requirements that might be needed for work. You should also find a place near your workplace to make it easier for you.</p>
<p>If you are going to move with your family, make sure that you are moving to a family friendly neighborhood. See to it that there is a good school for your children. It would be ideal if there were recreation parks or beaches nearby. This way, you can easily find time and activity with your children.</p>
<p>In addition to the above mentioned information, you should also keep the following in mind:</p>
<p>1. Before moving, make sure that you research about your new home. What is the weather like and when does it usually change. Learn about the society, their rules and culture. This will help prepare you for the change.</p>
<p>2. Have a checklist of what to do. It would be better if you have a time table so that you can specify what to do during that day. First you have to indicate your moving date. That will help you organize the things you need to accomplish. If you need help, hire services ahead of time. Make sure that the movers know when and where you are moving.</p>
<p>3. Gradually pack your things. Pack the things that you can ahead of time. Designate boxes for similar items and label them. Taking the extra step to label your boxes will greatly help you find the things you immediately need when you reach your new home. You should also clean all your linens and rugs to prepare it for packing. To make it easier for you, assign each member of the family to pack their own things. You can also assign them specific things to pack.</p>
<p>4. All important documents should be secured. Remember, almost all actions you are going to take such as enrolling your children or filing for loans will require original documents.</p>
<p>5. Make sure that you inform your friends and family about your new address and contact information. You should also inform the local authorities and other parties that will need it.</p>
<p>Your preparation will be a great factor on how you will feel once you are in your new home. This will greatly help you and your children adjust to the new place easily.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Moving can be overwhelming. No matter how much time you allow, it&#8217;s hard to keep track of everything. A last-minute checklist and moving calendar will help you reduce stress, keep track of loose ends, and stay calm, cool and collected while moving into your new place.</p>
<p>First, take a clear plastic bag and put a small notebook, pocket calendar, and a few different pens and markers inside. Decide where to keep the bag, and always return these items to the bag after use. During a big move, knowing where things are is half the battle.</p>
<p><strong>Building the Perfect List</strong></p>
<p>Transferring random thoughts onto a checklist is a great way to stay organized. A calendar of dates and appointments for your move will tell you what&#8217;s going on even when the days of packing and unpacking have blurred together.</p>
<p>Mark the front cover of your notebook &#8220;Moving Out&#8221; and the back cover &#8220;Moving In&#8221; so you know which notes go where. Mark the calendar with your actual moving day and any other key dates. Now you are ready to start filling in the blanks.</p>
<p><strong>Out With the Old.</strong></p>
<p>For the &#8220;Moving Out&#8221; section of the list, write down everything that needs to be done, no matter how small. If you&#8217;ve written it down, there&#8217;s no chance of forgetting it. Some good ideas to start with include:</p>
<ul>
<li>
<p>Inside the cover of your notebook, write down phone numbers for your moving company, leasing agent and anyone else you may need to contact while your other possessions are in boxes.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Make sure to fill out a forwarding address card at your local post office or online <a href="https://moversguide.usps.com/" target="_blank">https://moversguide.usps.com</a></p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Confirm cutoff dates for all utilities and check transfer dates for any services being switched from your old address to your new one.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Update your address with your bank, auto insurance, credit card companies, etc. Order checks with your new address as soon as possible.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Review your lease agreement to see what kind of cleaning is necessary when you move out. It&#8217;s important to be present at the walk-through to discuss any issues and make arrangements to prevent charges against your deposit.</p>
</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>In With the New!</strong></p>
<p>It can take time to get comfortable in a new space, and there are plenty of loose ends to keep track of. For the &#8220;Moving In&#8221; checklist, consider the following:</p>
<ul>
<li>
<p>Get your driver&#8217;s license and car tags updated as required. Most states have online DMV guides explaining the rules. For an in-state move, you may be allowed to update your address online.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Once your new checks arrive, don&#8217;t forget to destroy the old ones.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Confirm appointments with cable or internet services and write them in your calendar. Most companies require customers to be available for a window of several hours, so keep your schedule clear and set your alarm if necessary.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>If possible, look in advance for an internet cafe or free WiFi location near your new home so you can get online during your move.</p>
</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>High Priority Items</strong></p>
<p>Creating a Priority Box is a great way to keep track of important items and documents. This box will stay with you at all times during your move and should contain your passport, extra checks, duplicate credit cards, etc., necessities such as a cell phone charger, plus some comfort items for your new home.</p>
<p>Add a bathroom bag to the priority box &#8212; at least toilet paper, soap, shampoo, toothbrush and toothpaste. Don&#8217;t go searching your new neighborhood for an all-night grocery store because your toothbrush is still on the moving truck somewhere.</p>
<p>Consider packing a variety of small, familiar items in your priority box. Before you deal with the stress of unpacking everything else, put something in every room to remind you to relax and feel at home. A favorite book, a framed photo, a vacation souvenir, anything can work. Familiar smells are also comforting, so bring along your preferred air freshener, or a box of your favorite tea.</p>
<p>Moving can still be stressful, but it doesn&#8217;t have to be uncomfortable. By staying organized, keeping track of your checklist, and adding a few personal touches, you can keep your cool and make sure you won&#8217;t be losing any sleep in your new home.</p>
